From a young age, I, Mascha, have had a passion for creativity. At a young age, I started designing my own jewelry. I spent hours selecting the most beautiful beads to then make jewelry at home for all my loved ones. In 2020, I had the opportunity to take over the inventory of a bead shop. This new adventure seemed like a godsend, and I decided to take a leap of faith. At 21, I started my own business: BAYU.

In May 2020 we opened the doors of our store in the center of Oud-Rijswijk, and in January 2021 the website went live.

The name BAYU is derived from the Indonesian word 'Ayu', which means 'beautiful' and 'graceful'. This represents my Indonesian roots and the feeling I want to give people when they wear our jewelry.

I have always had a preference for unique and sustainable products. That is why our products are carefully selected from all over the world. In the store you will find beads from Indonesia, Japan and Greece, for example. Authenticity and quality are central.

The past few years have been a wonderful adventure. The shop's selection has expanded enormously. You'll now find even more beautiful handmade products, such as cards, candles, phone accessories, tableware, bags, and much more! Not only has the selection grown, but so has the team. I now work with a fantastic team on BAYU.

I look forward to continuing to grow and innovate. We strive to create the most beautiful jewelry that makes people feel beautiful and graceful. I'm grateful for everything we've accomplished and for everything yet to come. Enjoy our beautiful products – I can't wait to hear what you think!
